Announcing the inaugural Brisbane City FIDE Junior Rapid Chess Championship presented by Jack Rodgers Chess Coaching. This event is open to all U18 players.
Schedule
Registration Time: 9.30am. Round 1 at 10am sharp. Round 9 intending to finish at approx. 5pm with prize giving succeeding.
Details
- Fees
- Early Bird (Before 2026-04-01): $50. Standard Fee: $60. Entry fee will be waived for GM, IM, WGM, WIM, FM, WFM, and WCM (contact Jack at [email protected] for free entry code). CAQ membership of $20 is required.
- Format
- 9 Rounds. FIDE Rapid, ACF Quick, Queensland Junior Rated. Time Control: 15 minutes plus 2 seconds per move.
- Prizes
- $1,400 prize fund subject to 50 entrants. 1st - $500, 2nd - $250, 3rd - $150. Best Girl: $100 (subject to 3 or more entering). Best Brisbane Boys College student: $100. Remaining $300 for age group winners.
- Eligibility
- All U18 players, except for foreign players without a FIDE ID (Foreign players with FIDE ID are welcome). CAQ membership is mandatory.

On-site location to be sent via email after registration. No entries will be taken on the day. Parents will not be allowed in the playing area. No food provided on site. Where players finish on an equal score, prizes will be split, tiebreaks (M-Buchholz) for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd medal winners only. Refunds for entry will not be permitted by players who do not give prior notice of their withdrawal. All participants must register for the Chess Association of Queensland (CAQ) to play; this costs $20 for a year and can be done at https://caq.org.au/membership-levels/.
