UNSW Chess Club invites all beginner and experienced players to take part in our annual Open Weekender! FIDE and ACF rated weekender competition for all levels from beginner to master!

Opening: Friday 20th March, 6:30pm; Round 1: Friday 20th March, 7:00pm; Round 2: Saturday 21st March, 11:00am; Round 3: Saturday 21st March, 2:30pm; Round 4: Saturday 21st March, 6:00pm; Round 5: Sunday 22nd March, 10:00am; Round 6: Sunday 22nd March, 1:30pm; Round 7: Sunday 22nd March, 5:00pm

Format

7 rounds swiss, no accelerated rounds; FIDE + ACF rated; 60 min + 30 sec per move; Players may request one half-point bye during rounds 1-5 by emailing [hidden] before 6pm 19th of March.

Fees

$80 General entry; $40 Arc Members (Must be a member of the UNSW Chess Club on Rubric. You may be asked to present your UNSW student ID at the event); Free entry for GMs, IMs, WGMs and WIMs! Entries close at 6pm on Thursday 19th March.

Prizes

1st place: $800; 2nd place: $600; 3rd place: $400; 4th place: $200. Conditional prizes (on 5 eligible players): U1800 acf: $100; U1600 acf: $100; Unrated: $100; Best female: $100; Best UNSW student: $100; Best junior: $100. Players are only eligible for one prize. Prizes will be split in case of a tie. Prize pool may be increased depending on capacity reached.

Eligibility

All beginner and experienced players; FIDE + ACF rated; 60 competitor limit; Overseas entrants must have a FIDE ID number OR must obtain one from their home country federation before entering.
